Monique M. Mogensen, MD, Publishes New Article on Radiation Dose Safety in WJEM
A new article co-authored by one of NationalRad's esteemed neuroradiologists, MONIQUE A. MOGENSEN, MD, was published in the peer-reviewed WESTERN JOURNAL OF MEDICINE (WJEM) in May 2012. The publication, entitled RADIATION DOSE FROM MEDICAL IMAGING: A PRIMER FOR EMERGENCY PHYSICIANS, was written by Jesse G.A. Jones, MD of Los Angeles County - University of Southern California (USC) Medical Center, USC Keck School of Medicine, Department of Radiology in Los Angeles, CA, Christopher N. Mills, MD, MPH of Inova Fairfax Hospital, Department of Emergency Medicine in Falls Church, VA, Dr. Mogensen and Christoph I. Lee, MD of UCLA David Geffen School of Medicine, Departments of Internal Medicine and Radiology in Los Angeles, CA.
In the article, Drs. Jones, Mills, Mogensen and Lee discuss exposure to ionizing radiation in medicine, specifically in the emergency setting, and provide a general overview of radiation dose from medical imaging with a focus on computed tomography. In addition, they offer a literature review of recent efforts to decrease unnecessary radiation exposure to patients in the emergency department setting.
Dr. Mogensen is a fellowship-trained, board certified neuroradiologist with a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in neuroradiology. Prior to joining NationalRad in 2011, Dr. Mogensen served as an assistant professor of clinical radiology in the division of neuroradiology at the USC Keck School of Medicine, where she also served on the radiation safety committee for the University Hospital. Her areas of interest include neurovascular disease, stroke, spine, brain tumor and diffusion tensor imaging, as well as radiation dose in imaging.

AAOE Annual Meeting Wrap Up!
Thank you to the American Association of Orthopaedic Executives (AAOE) and our orthopaedic clients for another great annual conference this year! As always, we enjoyed seeing familiar faces and meeting new people, and we had a great time out on the town in New Orleans with some of you on Saturday night! Pat O'Briens and Bourbon Street are a sure recipe for fun, and the alligator bites were delicious!
Congratulations to our "Enjoying New Orleans (A Little Too Much)?" raffle winner! We hope you had a peaceful flight home with your new Bose headphones! Thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth to enter the raffle and have pictures taken in our Mardi Gras masks! Fun was had by all, and we definitely look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
